Brooklyn Barmaid Branding

Brooklyn Barmaid

After speaking with the owner about the brand and flavors of the products, I created a mood-board for each of the items in the product-line. I reviewed this with the owner and branding team and after a few edits began drafting designs. We compared them with like products on the market to see how they would stand out and attract customers. Hoping to launch by August 2021. It was so helpful to work in tandem with people who had a clear vision for their brand. I am grateful they entrusted me to achieve their goals with my creative designs and share these pieces on my portfolio.

A print advertisement also to be used as an Instagram Story.

Illustrated on Procreate and Adobe Illustrator, my inspiration stemmed from nights on the Amalfi coast as the warm sunset glistened on the Aperol spritzes and all seemed right with the world pre-pandemic. I chose a yellow background to symbolize brightness and happiness now that the world has been reopening post-pandemic. We opted to have an outlined font for our catch “Summer Twenty Twenty-Fun” so you could see through it to summer, to your drinks and entertainment, instead of creating a solid barrier with a solid font between the thought of our advertisement and the product.

Designs for labels:

This was inspired by the bright and whimsical designs of Lisa Frank that filled the notebooks and bedrooms of early millennials. With citrus being so bright and tangy, we wanted a colorful print to stand out on a shelf and call out to our millennial audience with a sense of nostalgia and summer fun.

Our labels also have a homemade feel with the masking tape label effect on the top and bottom of the image. We wanted to incorporate a handcrafted feel to create a unique branding representative of our small business without adding too much flair like a script or handwriting based typography.

It was important to maintain a sense of minimalism and clean-lines within our company branding while our products themselves can be more eclectic and varied between lines.

Watermelon jalapeño is such a unique drink on the market. There aren’t many quality pre-made cocktails of this flavor available for purchase so we wanted our label to be just as unique as our product. We combined two different art forms - a fine art sketch of jalapeños with a pop-art inspired background. We found that despite their difference in style, these two meshed well together for our final product, much like our two different pieces of produce. Watermelon and Jalapeño make for a sweet summer refresher with a bold kick.
